We changed

We reimagined Xin’an as a dynamic urban engine by enhancing its unique “inner city” character—preserving its human scale, while introducing a new spatial system that celebrates gathering, innovation, and flexibility.

Transformation

+ Recognized Xin’an’s charm as an ordinary, low-cost, mixed-use environment that fosters urban vitality and affordability—especially for younger generations.
+ Upgraded and integrated existing alleys and local streets to enhance walkability, continuity, and charm across the district.
+ Proposed “The Street for Gathering” as a framework—focusing on adaptable public spaces that invite interaction and community life and introduced a new “super path” as a spatial spine to connect and anchor existing street networks and informal urban patches.

Climate

+ Emphasized low-impact, adaptable design interventions rather than large-scale demolition or overdevelopment—preserving the embedded urban grain.
+ Integrated green pockets and informal gathering zones that support everyday resilience and climate-sensitive uses.
