Climate change will require a complete reconfiguration of our public space. We need more space for water storage and drainage, and we need more space to counter the loss in biodiversity. At the same time, our mobility patterns change. Fewer cars, more bikes and other vehicles are being used in our cities. This makes room for the change. In his lecture given at TU Vienna in November 2022, Markus Appenzeller highlights what tremendous opportunity this holds. He shows what can be achieved if we start changing our streets now.
