We changed

Rather than generically filling spaces in between buildings with ‘stuff’, we propose to develop an open space strategy that defines a series of objectives. Based on these goals, design decisions are made in response to the buildings, their programme and the location of a space in the bigger context.

Transformation

+ Development of a seamless open space system that integrates different elements and functions such as pedestrian links, rainwater management, and leisure programs.
+ Streets form be framework of the open space system within which and across which the pedestrian space links on different levels.

Climate

+ Create a pleasant and healthy environment for the community, incorporating green infrastructure and sustainable design practices.
+ The integration of vital functions like rainwater management into the open space design.

Collaboration

+ Work with various stakeholders to deliver a network of public spaces that enhance the quality of life in Qianhai Bay.
+ The use of the planned 'Ewan Valley' as a test bed and showcase for the interlock concept suggests a collaborative approach to testing and implementing new ideas in public space design.
