We changed

We designed a resilient, green, and socially vibrant new urban neighbourhood at Fennpfuhler Tor—transforming a traffic-heavy edge into a productive landscape that connects past and future, city and ecology, work and living.

Transformation

+ Reorganized the site based on four spatial typologies—Neighbourhood Entrance, Urban Park, Garden Courtyard, and Green Promenade—to guide volume placement and open space identity.
+ Integrated three high-rise buildings rhythmically along the southern edge to create architectural identity while minimizing land sealing and maximizing open space.
+ Activated all ground floors with public-facing programs (e.g. retail, daycare, studios), creating a continuous and lively urban base.

Climate

+ Designed a sponge-city-based, fully drainless rainwater system using retention roofs, evaporation belts, and infiltration meadows.
+ Preserved and extended existing tree rows, supplemented with drought-resistant planting and biodiverse green roofs.
+ Enabled passive cooling, air purification, and microclimate regulation through green corridors, sun orientation, and deep planting structures.
