Weiyuan Island is a hidden treasure in the middle of the Greater Bay Area and has always been a crucial place that controls the Pearl River Delta. However, in the past 30 years, Weiyuan’s development has been overlooked. Therefore, we believe that the true potential of Weiyuan Island can only be achieved if the Forest Park project looks beyond its boundaries. Our overall planning includes island-wide strategies for ecology, placemaking and wayfinding. By developing an ecological “mountain-city-sea” security system and determining six mountain zones, we will be able to achieve urban-nature symbiosis in the next 20 years. A new/rediscovered character for each: We refined the forest park edges by including the surrounding communities. And focused on 5 key entrances, which became Five Scenes of Weiyuan.
