Project

In 2023 we joined the competition for Wusongjiang-Wenzaobang River Spatial Planning Design, and ultimately became the winning project. We proposed three main strategies: ‘Ecology raised by river’, ‘Connectivity raised by river’ and ‘Places raised by river’. Wusongjiang-Wenzaobang shall be transformed from a simple waterway into a blue spine, leading the revival of northern Shanghai. Our plan for the Wusongjiang River unfolds on three levels: System, Places, and Actions. At the System level, we propose three strategies: Ecology as the foundational strategy, Dynamic strategy to synergize connectivity, and Place-making strategy by water. In the realm of urban operation and shaping, water has perennially served as the centripetal force in northern Shanghai, connecting scattered urban puzzle pieces and converging into six water clusters. Operationally, we advocate for the development of Wusongjiang River-Wenzaobang and the establishment of a 'Collaborative Navigator' mechanism at the implementation level. This mechanism guides cross-district and cross-disciplinary collaboration, ensuring directional, systematic, and timely development along the regional line.
