Project

The motto “New Wave” represents the two goals of our regeneration strategy: to rediscover the relationship of this district to the Pearl Delta which shaped its history and old culture, and to give space for a new life style for this urban village that will set off positive transformational waves for its people and businesses.

This urban regeneration initiative for Xixiang Neighbourhood, Bao’an District, Shenzhen, avoids the typical wholesale clearance of the existing urban fabric. The development of Shenzhen in the last generation had overgrown this historic rural harbour when early factory development in the 1980s and 90s mean

Our proposal offers a new way to transform the urban village of Xixiang through a multi scale regeneration toolbox: 3 regenaration methods, common civics, Set of mini tools) into a more attractive coastal town, avoiding the whoesale clearance of the existing urban fabric. New Wave Xixiang has 4 areas in the key section, Once upon a time in Xixiang, Nanchang Metro-sea corridor, Bao’an Avenue Exterior and Gushu Interior. It steps on the ground, facing the sea, embracing the sky. It inherits from the historic culture but also benefits from the modern local lifestyle. To visitors, Xixiang is the extension of T3, the rear of the airport city, the landing for those who come from the other side of pearl river… in all, the front of Shenzhen. To new and old Xixiangers, here is the container of life, cooperating with industry and ecology.
