Gui’An New District is the eleventh new district on national level in China. Located around a new High-Speed Railway station and in hilly farmland, it has the possibility to be a new starting point for urban planning in China. After a generation of rapid urban construction that disregarded the natural setting, the Duo City concept offers both natural qualities as well as urban vitality. Duo City overcomes the usual contradictions of nature vs. city, tradition vs. modernity, locality vs. globalization by a new look at urban design. Proximity and interaction of these dual elements creates the unique experience and attractiveness to deliver an exemplary national distinct.
