Project

The Bridge and Waterfront project in Al Khobar is a transformative urban initiative that redefines the city’s relationship with its coastline. Once fragmented by major road infrastructure, the area is being reimagined as a unified, pedestrian-first destination where functionality meets cultural vibrancy. At its core is an iconic bridge — more than a crossing, it serves as a milestone — guiding people from the lively Shamalia neighborhood to a revitalized waterfront rich with activity, nature, and art. The design integrates a series of human-centered spaces, including event theater, children’s play areas, viewing platforms, and tranquil gardens, all inspired by the fluid forms of the sea. Through the use of local materials, climate-adapted planting, and intuitive wayfinding, the project promotes walkability, strengthens community connections, and establishes the waterfront as Al Khobar’s new cultural and recreational heart. This is not merely an infrastructure upgrade — it is a holistic placemaking endeavor that restores the soul of the city and invites residents and visitors to walk, gather, and experience the Gulf in a new and meaningful way.
